Taking breaks gives you fresh energy.

Reminding yourself to take regular breaks throughout the day will give you fresh energy to work on your priorities and will reduce stress along the way.

Exercise:

  • Look at your calendar each day and identify where you can take at least 2, maybe 3, 5 to 15-minute breaks, possibly in the morning, at lunch, and in the afternoon.

  • Listen to your body and pay attention to your energy; when you need a shift in energy, take a short break.

  • Use your break time to: eat healthy food, drink water, go for a walk, stretch, call a friend, do something completely different from what you were doing, breathe, meditate… choose something that will re-energize you. I would encourage you NOT to look at email or social media; choose something away from technology.

Action: take 3 short breaks during your next workday. Notice how it impacts your energy throughout the day. Repeat the next day.
