IN THIS LESSON

Strategize and visualize what you want to say in your next performance review.

Reflecting on what you want to accomplish over the next performance review period, then developing a plan to achieve it, will lead to more career success and your ability to thrive.

To thrive, be strategic about your performance reviews. Be proactive and strategic in your new role, by thinking ahead of time about what you want to say/write and what you want to hear from your manager in your performance review in 3 or 6 months, or the specific performance review time period ahead.

Envision the key deliverables, the what and the how. Envision the impact you’re having. Envision your colleagues’ glowing reviews. Envision bringing your career development plan to life with what you're learning and experiencing. Does what you’re planning to do already meet or exceed expectations? What are you going for, meet or exceed? Adjust your plans to match your desired outcomes. Build the workback schedules and plans. Block the time on your calendar. Share your plans with your manager. Then, during your actual performance review ask for specific feedback on if you achieved what you were trying to. Listen. Reflect. Plan. Grow again.

And, continue the cycle as you grow in your role. Have your career development plan for your career growth and career path, have your work plan with your deliverables specific to your current role, be strategic with your performance reviews, and have ongoing feedback mechanisms. Reflect on your progress, incorporate feedback, adjust your plans, keep strategizing, keep connecting, keep delivering, keep learning, and keep thriving!
