Why I started coaching neurodivergent professionals

I realized years ago that I think, learn, behave, and relate to others a little bit differently (in a good way). I didn’t know why. I always needed to know the big picture and how each part connected to the bigger piece and likely needed a visual representation of it. I needed a process or framework for each initiative or project; if it didn’t exist, I would create it. I would get overwhelmed by new projects until I could pinpoint the first step to take. I didn’t like surface small talk and appreciated only deeper conversations. I would build structure and process where it didn’t exist and once bored with it, would need to mix it up to be more interesting. I would have sudden periods of energy where I could focus and get massive amounts of work done at a time. It wasn’t until I learned that I was neurodivergent in 2008, that my approaches and preferences made more sense.

When I started coaching in 2013, I helped professionals in the tech industry with career growth topics like navigating relationships, promotions, and skill development. In 2023, when I decided to coach full-time, I was asked what my “niche” was and as I thought about it, I realized that I wanted to help neurodivergent professionals – people with ADHD, Autism, Bipolar, or other conditions.

I wanted to help neurodivergent tech professionals figure out how they operate, how they think, learn, behave, and relate to others, so they can build on their strengths, find their next career step, and unlock their peak career performance. There are so many “ah-ha” moments that come from understanding how you operate and then accepting who you are, to build confidence and a new mindset. With a new mindset, taking intentional action can help achieve anything.

I truly enjoy creating clarity for complex minds by exploring topics together, creating frameworks that resonate, strategies that work, and habits that stick. It’s really satisfying to help someone find clarity and momentum in their career.

So, I coach neurodivergent professionals to help create clarity and momentum for complex minds. I want neurodivergent professionals to tap into their full potential and step into and embrace their ability to lead. The feeling of operating at your peak is incredibly fulfilling and I want to help those who want to operate at their peak, feel the fulfillment, too.
