What does it take to reach your peak performance?
First, you define what your peak performance looks like – set your vision. What do you need to be doing? How will you feel? Who will you be?
Then, you pinpoint what’s currently in your way – mindset, skills, strategies, knowledge, experiences, or habits. There may be one thing or there may be twenty. It doesn’t matter as long as you identify them so you can face them one at a time.
Then, build a career development plan that encompasses your vision, your career path, what you want to learn, experience, knowledge, etc. and then determine your goals and identify the actions needed over the next month, quarter, and year to reach your peak performance.
You may need to design your actions and habits very thoughtfully to ensure they are interesting, challenging, and rewarding, so you follow through with them. You’ll design them accounting for how you operate and with what works for you.
It’s then a constant process of setting your vision (short term and long term), mastering your mindset, and taking intentional action, over and over again.
Personally, I have had to re-set my vision on a monthly basis to remind myself what I want, ensure it’s still true, and then re-calibrate on the intentional action needed to achieve it. The constant re-visiting keeps me focused and on track; it also reassures me that I’m headed in the right direction. You’ll have your own process.
The process of setting your vision, mastering your mindset, and taking intentional action is consistent across all of my clients. How we navigate within that process varies for each individual. Your peak is your peak. You define it. We create the path and the momentum to ascend to it according to how you operate. You’ll reach your peak and have a new ViewPoint.
